Audie murphy |
CHILDHOOD Audie Murphy was born in Hunt County, Texas. His father deserted his family, so he had to take action and take care of all 11 of his brothers and sisters. He even had to drop out of school in 5th grade so he could get a job picking cotton for a single dollar a day to help support his family further.

On January 26, 1945, Murphy was commanding company B of the 15th infantry, when out of nowhere, German soldiers charged the group, and Murphy directed his men to fall back into the nearby woods. He then placed himself onto a tank, and took out over 20 German soldiers by himself, and basically stopped the attack completely.
